Food Insecurity

Food insecurity is a constant reality for anyone living in poverty. Many individuals and families must make the difficult choice between paying their rent or buying food. 1 in 4 citizens in Baltimore City, are food insecure. Many children arrive to school hungry, and many have not eaten a full meal since they left school the day before. Many families live in a food desert. Our programs offer consistent access to nutritious food  

Soup at Six is a weekly service that provides café style, hot meals. Feel free to sit and eat with neighbors or take it to go.  

The Pantry is a weekly food service that provides fresh fruits, vegetables, and bread.

Community Education and Engagement

Common Ground is an initiative supporting men, women, youth, and young adults to prioritize their mental health. Common Ground includes mentorship of at-risk youth facing trauma and lack of resources.

Chronic Disease Education

Sickle Cell Awareness
Our mission is to increase the quality of life for individuals diagnosed with sickle cell disease by educating them on the steps to living a quality life with this disease.

Diabetes Prevention
Diabetes is a chronic (long-lasting) health condition that is prevalent in local communities. the association between urban neighborhoods, the disadvantaged and access to healthy food is well-documented. Our mission is designed to reduce risk related to diabetes so that anyone can take charge of their health.

Advocacy And Public Policy

Our President, Karl Douglas, is one of fifteen commissioners serving on the Maryland Health Care Commission that represents citizens living in Maryland. He represents the Baltimore City district. The Maryland Health Care Commission is an independent regulatory agency whose mission is to plan for health system needs, promote informed decision-making, increase accountability, and improve access in a rapidly changing health care environment by providing timely and accurate information on availability, cost, and quality of services to policy makers, purchasers, providers, and the public.
